Connect your exchange with a read-only API key
Banks, exchanges and brokers, linked read-only. LedgerVault sees balances, never moves money.
To connect an exchange, you create a read-only API key in your exchange account and paste it into LedgerVault. Read-only means LedgerVault can see your balances but can't trade, transfer or withdraw. Banks and brokers connect read-only too, through a link you approve with your provider.
How to create a read-only API key
The exact menus differ by exchange, but the steps are the same:
- 1In your exchange account, open the API settings and create a new key.
- 2Give it read (or view) permission only. Leave trading and withdrawals switched off.
- 3Paste the key into LedgerVault. Your balances start updating by themselves.
What LedgerVault can and can't do
It can read balances and holdings. It can't trade, transfer, withdraw or hold your money. Everything it reads is encrypted end to end.
Ask Claude about your money
Switch on the Claude connector and ask questions about your money in plain words. It's off by default, and you can turn it off at any time.
Not supported yet?
Add any account by hand or import a CSV, so nothing is left out of your total.
Questions, answered
Is it safe to connect an exchange with an API key?
A read-only key only lets LedgerVault see balances. Keep trading and withdrawal permissions switched off when you create it.
Can LedgerVault move my money?
No. Every connection is read-only. It can never trade, transfer, withdraw or hold your funds. How we handle your data →
